Eastern Marlborough high on Seaward Kaikoura Range. Tall shrub with upright branches, topped by a canopy of weeping grey leafless branchlets. In December large hanging clusters of 10mm mauve flowers. Fixes nitrogen.

China. Broadly spreading, deciduous. Pale, waxy, yellow, sweetly scented flowers produced in winter on the bare branches. Succeeds in any well drained soil. Excellent on calcium rich soils.

Large evergreen shrub with pairs of large, thin, wavy, yellow-green leaves mottled with dark green or purple. Flowering in autumn, green and white, followed by stalked orange and red fruits Common understorey of moist forest from the coast to 1000m . North & South Island, south to Lake Ianthe in the west and Marlborough Sounds in the east.

Large vigorous native shrub or small tree, great for establishment. Red berries that mature in autumn. Typically found in lowland and coastal sites throughout both North and South Islands.
